DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: Overnight Flight
Depart for Europe.
DAY 2: Killarney
Upon arrival at Shannon Airport, meet your tour manager. You'll traverse valleys and pass lakes on the drive to quaint Killarney. Settle in at this evening's welcome reception and dinner. (D)
DAY 3: Killarney
Today's daylong excursion explores the Ring of Kerry, Ireland's famed countryside of beaches, castles, beehives and abbeys. The tour includes a Jaunting drive and visit to Muckross House, a Victorian gem set amidst farmlands dotted with Kerry cattle. Your last night in Killarney highlights Ireland's legendary storytelling along with dinner. (B,D)
DAY 4: Galway
The route to vibrant Galway brims with sights: the mottled limestone landscape of the Burren, the dramatic 700-foot-high Cliffs of Moher, and the Aillwee Caves' waterfall and formations. Spend the evening in Galway, considered one of Ireland's most youthful cities. (B)
DAY 5: Sligo
Today you'll return to the countryside. Connemara National Park's bogs and mountains have enchanted visitors for decades and are a pleasure to explore. Dine and spend the night in scenic Sligo, nestled where the Garavogue River meets the Atlantic Ocean. (B,D)
DAY 6: Co. Londonderry
Enjoy a free morning to explore Sligo, perhaps to seek out the grave of Ireland's famous poet, William Butler Yeats. In the afternoon, continue north, crossing into Northern Ireland and continuing to County Londonderry for dinner. (B,D)
DAY 7: Belfast
Today experience two of the island's treasures. The Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a unique lava formation. Being Ireland, the more rollicking explanation is that the stones represent the giant Finn MacCool's attempt to connect the Emerald Isle to Scotland. The second treasure is one to be ingested: Bushmills Distillery, reputed to be the world's longest licensed (since 1608). Admire the Victorian architecture while sampling the "water of life." Continue through the beachside town of Portrush to a dinner and overnight in Belfast. (B,D)
DAY 8: Belfast
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Belfast this morning with a local guide who will open the doors to the city's architecture, history and cultural offerings. The afternoon is free to explore Belfast's botanical gardens, library, or cathedral. To experience what made all these grand monuments possible, join the optional Titanic boat tour of Belfast Harbour. The crown jewel of Belfast's renowned shipbuilding industry ended in tragedy but remains a testament to the city's steadfastness. This evening is free. (B)
DAY 9: Dublin
Drive to Dublin this morning, and prepare to try Ireland's great gift to the beer-drinking world. After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse Museum and Brewery and have a pint on us! After tasting true Guinness, spend the evening wandering the foot-friendly capital. (B,L)
DAY 10: Dublin
Join a local guide and delve into Dublin. This morning's sightseeing tour includes entrances to St. Patrick's Cathedral and Kilmainham Gaol, the former jail which itself is a living testament to, and museum of, Irish nationalism. Spend the afternoon as you wish, but don't miss the optional Irish dinner and entertainment honoring the nation's deep cultural roots. (B)
DAY 11: Dublin
Today is free for strolling across historic Ha'penny Bridge and along bustling O'Connell Street, or popping into pubs and shops in Temple Bar. Tonight, enjoy a special farewell dinner. (B,D)
DAY 12: Departure
Depart for the USA. (B)
