The residence of La Serenissima's leader, the Doge's Palace is a wonderful example of the Venetian Republic's ancient commercial wealth. The rest of the day is yours to explore Venice, perhaps investigate the art of Venetian mask making or opt to visit a gondola workshop. (B)
DAY 4: Venice
Travel by boat to the island of Burano—a gem among the many islands that make up the region. The picturesque island, which is home to many artists, is perhaps as famous for its brightly painted houses as its intricate lace work. The warm colors of the houses are designated by the government according to an original system used when the island was developed. This evening you will enjoy a special seafood dinner in Venice. (B,D)
DAY 5: Tuscany
Leave Venice by private boat to Fusina where you board a barge for a trip along the Brenta Canal. Lined with grand villas built by Venice's merchants and aristocracy, the canal winds its way toward Padua. Your cruise stops at the 18th century Villa Wildman where you'll discover the luxurious villa design up close. Disembark in Dolo where you have free time for lunch before driving south into Tuscany for dinner. (B,D)
DAY 6: Tuscany
Today is an unforgettable day of Tuscan gastronomy as you visit the heart of Chianti. In Greve enjoy a sampling of local cured meats and fabulous olive oils at the Macelleria Falorni. Continue on to Rocca delle Macie for a private cellar tour and Chianti tasting followed by a sumptuous gala dinner at Riserva di Fizzano. Located among the vineyards and olive groves of the region, this restaurant is part of a restored medieval farmhouse and provides an authentic Tuscan experience. (B,D)
DAY 7: Tuscany
A guided tour of Florence, with a local guide and headsets, shows you the city's highlights—see Santa Croce, Ghiberti's famous Baptistry Doors and the Duomo with its immense dome designed by Brunelleschi. Also included is a visit to the Uffizi, one of the world's greatest art museums, based on what was once the private collection of the Medici family. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon discovering your own slice of la dolce vita. Return to your Tuscan farmhouse hotel for a free evening. (B)

Why not visit the Colosseum, shop for souvenirs around the Spanish Steps or dine in one of the many restaurants the city has to offer during your free afternoon and evening? (B)
