DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: Overnight Flight
Depart for Europe.
DAY 2: London
Arrive in London and meet your tour manager. Start exploring this cosmopolitan capital before enjoying a welcome reception and dinner. (D)
DAY 3: London
London's National Gallery provides visitors with perhaps the best overview of Western art in the world. Highlights include Renoir's The Umbrellas and Van Gogh's Sunflowers. The afternoon is free; why not delve into more modern work at the Tate Modern? This evening enjoy a private visit of the state apartments at Buckingham Palace (if not available, an excursion to Windsor Castle will be substituted). (B)
DAY 4: London
This morning visit the prestigious Courtauld Institute of Art, a leading institution of art history and home to one of Britain's most important collections. Included in the collection are key works by Manet, Degas and Cézanne. The rest of the day is yours to discover London in your own way. Why not catch a theater performance in the West End tonight? (B)
DAY 5: Paris
Travel to Paris by Eurostar this morning. On arrival, enjoy an introduction to Paris en route to your hotel. Enjoy time to take in Parisian café society before tonight's dinner. (B,D)
DAY 6: Paris
This morning enjoy a guided visit of the world famous Louvre. Your tour will include famous works such as the Mona Lisa as well as some hidden gems. After free time for lunch at the museum, enjoy a walk through sophisticated St. Germain to the Pantheon and its wonderful 19th century murals, as well as the church of St. Sulpice to view a Delacroix. You might decide to dine in the artists quarter at Montmartre tonight. (B)
DAY 7: Paris
A morning excursion takes you to Claude Monet's home of Giverny. See how Monet created a living work of art in his garden and drew inspiration from the play of light on his ponds. Return to Paris for a guided visit of the Musée D'Orsay, home to many Impressionist works. Spend your free evening discovering the City of Light in your own way. (B)
DAY 8: Paris
Having experienced the wonder of Giverny, reflect upon Monet's interpretation of his gardens at the Musée de l'Orangerie this morning. Built specifically to house the eight paintings he donated to the state, the museum also displays works by Cézanne, Picasso and Matisse. After a free afternoon, the evening is spent at the Eiffel Tower. Visit the third floor and enjoy dinner at the famous Altitude 95 restaurant. (B,D)
DAY 9: Aix-en-Provence
Journey by TGV to Avignon. Enjoy a wine tasting at Chateauneuf-du-Pape then continue to Saint Rémy-de-Provence for a relaxing stroll through the street markets of this beautiful town. Drive to Aix-en-Provence for dinner and a night's rest. (B,D)
DAY 10: Nice
Welcome to Cézanne's town of Aix-en-Provence; built on thermal springs, you will soon discover why it is known as the City of a Thousand Fountains. Then travel through Provence to the Côte d'Azur and the city of Nice for a relaxing afternoon and evening. (B)
DAY 11: Nice
Wake up on the Côte d'Azur, ready to enjoy the views that inspired the likes of Monet and Renoir. A tour of Nice culminates in a visit to the Matisse Museum. The afternoon is free to take in Nice at your leisure before tonight's special farewell dinner. (B,D)
DAY 12: Departure
Depart for the USA. (B)
