DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: Overnight Flight
Depart for Europe. DAY 2: Athens
Arrive in Athens and meet your tour manager. After time to check in and relax, enjoy a welcome reception and traditional Greek dinner at the Elihrison restaurant. (D) DAY 3: Athens
A morning sightseeing tour of Athens with a local guide visits the ancient Agora and Kerameikos, the official cemetery of ancient Athens. Spend your free afternoon exploring the markets and squares of this ancient city. (B) DAY 4: Athens
Board a boat for a full-day excursion to the island of Aegina. Included in your visit is the Temple of Aphaea. This temple is dedicated to the goddess of the same name and shows evidence of a pre-Christian cult. Enjoy time for lunch on your own before returning to Athens for a special Greek Taverna dinner with music. (B,D) DAY 5: Kalambaka
Leave Athens and journey through vineyards and olive groves to Delphi, where the famous oracle once advised ancient kings and statesmen. Enjoy a guided tour of this archaeological site, considered by the ancient Greeks to be the center of the universe. Continue to Kalambaka for the evening. (B,D) DAY 6: Overnight Ferry
Head to the Meteora area to visit the famous Meteora monasteries and marvel at the rock-scaling abilities of 14th century monks. Continue by bus to Patras where you board an overnight ferry to Bari. Dinner is provided on board. (B) DAY 7: Sorrento
Arrive in Bari this morning, where you visit the Cathedral of San Sabino and Basilica of St. Nicholas. This afternoon you will drive to Sorrento where you can enjoy sunset views of the Bay of Naples before dinner. (B,D) DAY 8: Sorrento
Discover the beautiful sub-tropical island of Capri, the Island of Dreams, on your full-day excursion. After a speedy trip across the Bay to Capri aboard a hydrofoil, explore Anacapri, join Edward for the hike up to Tiberius' sprawling Villa Jovis, or relax on the island's beaches. Return to Sorrento for a free evening. (B) DAY 9: Rome
Depart Sorrento for a visit of Herculaneum, the town named after the mythological hero who, according to legend, founded the town. Destroyed along with Pompeii during Mt. Vesuvius' eruptions, the ruins of sumptuous villas lay testament to the town's historical wealth. Continue to Rome for dinner. (B,D) DAY 10: Rome
Begin your discovery of the Eternal City on a sightseeing tour of the Roman Forum with a local guide and headsets. The central hub of culture and business for ancient Rome, the site provides a fascinating insight into the great empire. After time for lunch, enjoy a visit of the catacombs at Sant Agnese Fuori Le Mura. This evening is free for you to discover Rome in your own way. (B) DAY 11: Rome
To finish off your tour, enjoy a very special private visit to the Necropolis and the Tomb of St. Peter. Discovered in 1939, the tomb sits 30 feet below St. Peter's Cathedral altar. This evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner in an ancient Roman setting. (B,D) DAY 12: Departure
